ASSESSMENT NOTICES

posted on 3/29/24

The  2024 Assessment Notices will be arriving in your mailbox shortly.

The Department of Revenue has mandated all counties to implement the 2020 Real Property Assessment Manual. Cedar County implemented the manual with the 2024 Assessment year. Therefore, the values reflect current costs of building materials vs. the 2008 Real Property Assessment manual and adjustments.

Please review your notice and we encourage all owners to review their property record card for accuracy by visiting the GIS page located on the county's website.

If you feel the value is not accurate or does not reflect the status of the property you have two options to appeal. You can file an Informal Appeal with the Assessor from April 2nd – April 25th or file a petition with the Board of Review from April 2nd – April 30th.

Both forms are available on our county website. Go to Departments, Assessor, Property Assessment and click on Application for Informal Appeal. The Board of Review petition is in the board of review tab and click on the Petition to Local Bord of Review. Completed forms will be accepted via USPS or submitted electronically to cdauber@cedarcounty.iowa.gov.

If you have any questions, please contact the office at 563-886-6413. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
