Emergency Medical Services (EMS)

Cedar County, the Board of Supervisors, and EMS Director Dinsch continue work on the implementation plans for the new, countywide EMS service and how it will integrate with and support the existing volunteer agencies throughout the county.
Cedar County EMS has been authorized as a non-transport agency by the Iowa Health and Human Services Bureau of Emergency Medical and Trauma Services and is working on the final steps to go operational.
Additionally, as of September 22, 2026, at the request of the City of Tipon, Cedar County EMS took over mangement of the City of Tipton Ambulance, while maintaining it as an independent ambulance service separate from Cedar County EMS. The City and County will be continuing discussions about what the future of EMS looks like for both organizations and whether a more indepth joint venture is appropriate.
