Tobacco License
Any person selling cigarettes, tobacco products, vapor products, or alternative nicotine products must have a valid retail permit.
All permits expire annually on June 30th. A new application must be submitted every year.
Businesses located outside corporate city limits in Cedar County, Iowa seeking this privilege should make application through the state ( Govconnect.iowa.gov) who, in turn, present the application to local authorities (Auditor’s Office and Board of Supervisors) for review and approval prior to forwarding the application to the State of Iowa Alcohol, Tobacco, Lottery Licensing Department.
Beer and Liquor License
Licensing a business to sell and serve alcoholic beverages is a privilege allowed under Iowa law (Ch. 123, Code of Iowa).
Businesses located outside corporate city limits in Cedar County, Iowa seeking this privilege should make application through the state (Govconnect.iowa.gov) who, in turn, present the application to local authorities (Health Department, Planning and Development, Sheriff's Office, Attorney's Office, and Board of Supervisors) for review and approval prior to forwarding the application to the State of Iowa Alcohol, Tobacco, Lottery Licensing Department.
