Emergency Dispatching

When residents call 9-1-1 with an emergency, a communication operator will ask questions to better understand how to assist them. Operators are qualified to give callers instructions over the phone to help them as they wait for emergency responders to arrive. In medical situations, this includes instructions for how to administer CPR or help someone who is choking. 

Please remember, when calling with an emergency it is important to stay calm and stay on the line. As one operator asks questions, another will send help to the specified location. The information provided to the operator is given to responders to better prepare them when they arrive.
